Debra & Ryan’s Whytecliff Park wedding this past July was a great day. A perfect summer evening complete with good friends and a great party.
Debra & Ryan have been a couple for pretty much as long as I can remember. No wait, I can remember a time before that. A time when Debra and I were silly teenagers. Now we are silly adults, but those stories are for another time… Debra is very special to me. I think I had tears in my eyes pretty much the whole time I was editing this wedding. Happy tears for my beautiful friend. A good lump in the throat for two wonderful people celebrating their love. It was such a magical day!
What do you do when you are a wedding photographer and one of your favourite people in this world gets married? It’s a tough call. I wanted to capture the day and tell the story, but I also wanted to be able to be there for the party and turn off my work brain. For their wedding I was able to do just that. In the morning I hung out with Deb, her mom, and a few friends and casually snapped away as we sipped Champagne, I mean, got ready. Then Debra & I went to meet Ryan at Whytecliff Park for some pictures. Once we arrived at the Gleneagles Community Centre for their bow tie themed cocktail party, I put down my camera and became a guest. A ginormous thank you to my friend Tegan McMartin for helping me on this very special day. I cannot thank you enough for capturing so many amazing moments for my dear friends.
Since Debra hadn’t seen Ryan’s suit either, we took a slightly different take on the First Look.Debra’s very talented friend Gillian did all of the stunning floral arrangements. The flowers were locally sourced from the gardens of friends. My gorgeous friend and me.
So, apparently this is not OK Jenga behaviour. To Deb & Ryan, thank you for asking me to be a part of your day. I’m so happy to have you in my life. xoxo
