This past July I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to shoot a wedding on Pender Island. For those of you who are not familiar with Pender, it is a little island, part of B.C.’s Gulf Islands, in between Vancouver and Victoria. While growing up in Vancouver I had been to Pender and the other Gulf Islands a bunch of times but this was a whole new experience. I spent nearly a week hiking, kayaking, BBQing, swimming, and just generally hanging out with some of the coolest people I know and then got to shoot one of the most gorgeous weddings I have ever seen. Life is good!
I have known Brad and Nicole for years. Individually they are two of the finest people around. Together they are even better. I am so lucky to call both of them friends. We have had some pretty rad times together. I feel honoured (and even a little teary when I think about the fact) that they chose me to document their amazing wedding day. There was so much love in the room. It was an incredible feeling to be a part of such a magical day!
A huge, giant, ginormous thank you to Bethany for coming over from Vancouver and shooting with me. You are such a pleasure to work with and your pictures are fantastic! You totally killed the reception. It was so nice to kick up my heals and dance knowing you had it covered! I hope we get to shoot together again sometime soon.
Another big round of kudos goes to Barb from French Kiss Events. Barb is a Victoria based wedding planner. We had so much fun working together and she did such an incredible job orchestrating this complex wedding on a small island in which almost everything had to be brought over on the ferry. Not an easy feat! If you are getting married on Vancouver Island give Barb a call. If you are getting married on Pender you must call Barb, I’m pretty sure she is an expert with all things Pender!
Now, onto the pictures!
Vanessa from Verbena Floral Design did an amazing job. I love how Nicole chose different flowers for each of her bridesmaids.Amy Cunningham provided the music for the ceremony and also during cocktails. She has such a lovely voice.
I will leave off here as once the reception began I changed into my party clothes and became a guest. To see more from their gorgeous day please check out the feature on Style Me Pretty.
